Rokin 21 en Rokin 49
Creating two luxury department stores in the centre of Amsterdam. Building on a tiny parcel of land right next to the city's busiest metro station, which is also in the final phase of construction, is a challenge to say the least. Commissioned by and within the context of a new collaboration with Ivy Group BV, we are working on creating two amazing department stores. We are als working on the renovation of The Vleeshal. The Vleeshal is situated at the Nes / the Nesplein, and is a listed building, which adds to the challenge.
Sint Pietershalsteeg De Vleeshal
The dismantling of an office buiding and turning it into a modern, commercial retail building.
De Vleeshal building, originally built as a butchery and later used as a bank building for the Giro. The building was part of the Fortis Bank and was connected by an air bridge across the Nes to Rokin 55. This bank is now demolished including the airbridge to the property. De Vleeshal is now a self-standing building at the Nes and the Oudezijdsvoorburgwal.
The building was completely gutted and fitted with new steel frames. The property is adapted by us for use by the luxury department store HUDSON'S BAY. With a bicycle cellar and a lively interpretation from the ground floor: an asset to Amsterdam.
Connection Tunnel between Metro station Rokin / Dam and the department stores of HUDSON'S BAY at Rokin 21-49.
As an additional challenge of the project Rokin 21-49, we realize an underground connection between the entrance of the metro station Rokin / Dam and stores on Rokin 21 - 49. This is a very complex work because it is exactly in the middle of the already cramped site and must be done while the buildings are still under construction! In addition, the entire cable and pipe trace is exactly above the tunnel and the preparations for Project Red Carpet are in full swing. In short, a challenge we like to enter.
